My instructor just told me that I should have been remediated due to the fact that I was going to give meds on a patient (90 yo with CHF) when their BP was 98/56 (HR 92). I would like to know besides in the MAR where you would find parameters for giving the meds. When I researched Metoprolol I only found warnings regarding HR not the BP. Any help would be appreciated.
Well It should be in the mar if a physician wrote parmeters, otherwise you would go by what the drug book suggests. But I really don't know any cardiologist that would want the beta blocker held for that bp and hr. Maybe under 90. I think the books usually say systolic less than 100. But check with doctor unless parameters are written.
