Have any of you used these books? Would you recommend them?

Re: Prentice Hall Nursing Reviews and Rationale Series.....

We are currently using one for a Maternal review class. They have alot of NCLEX style questions and are in an outline form. It's a good review book. However, I don't think I'll rush out to buy the rest of the series, my Saunders NCLEX review has the same basic info, just not as detailed.

I have the patho, mental hlth, child hlth, maternal-newborn, and med-surg books......I wouldn't have bought the second book if I had not benefited from the first

Besides, occasionally I'd recognize a test question straight from the book

I love them! I bought them in addition to my textbooks and really just used those, they have a really great way of weeding out all the really important info and breaking it down so that you can understand it..I got straight A's that quarter! They also come with CDs that I found helpful. You can buy them all relatively cheap on half.com or amazon.com...I am done with school now and dont really use the peds or L&D books but I do use the pharm and med surg....

I have also used them for the same reasons others mentioned them: they summarize the important stuff, give you lots of NCLEX type questions. I like them a lot. I also have the " Straight A series" by Lippencot, which is the same concept. I definitely would buy them used on amazon... another tip: have a buddy of yours , by the Lippencots and you by the Prenhalls and you share them.... studying all the NCLEX questions. It helps a bunch.

Good tip! We did that too in NS. ANother tip....check them out from your lib. if y ou want to preview them first! My school's nursing lib. stocked them all and if they didnt there were several other schools in my area that had nursing libriares that were linked with ours.....My classmates and I would always go to the nursing lib. and just grab a ton of nclex books and do question after question....
