Ive never taken an online class before. I was wondering if anyone had any experience they would like to share. Ive heard good and bad things about them. Im fairly computer literate. Thank you for your advice.

Depends on your learning style I think. I am a kinsthetic learner. I feel like I gained very little information from the online program for the RN-BSN program. 1) The classes are about as much as grad credits in my area, I feel that I should at least get something out of it. 2) I hated them so much that I left the school that is less than 20 minutes from my home, all internet classes, to go to a school that is 90 minutes away but has real instructors teaching, one day a week, eight hours a day, for the same price.

The online classes were good for the general ed things, but if I am paying good money for nursing credits, I want something out of it in return.

Back to the beginning depends on the class and the type of learner, you should be fairly motivated to keep yourself on track also.

I've been taking pre-req's for a little over 1 year now. Some classes were bridge-nursing classes from LPN to RN. I have got a 4.0 going. There are some things though. You have to be able to take time to do it. You have to be able to get online and be undisturbed for several hours-hard with my two toddlers. You have to have the motivation and discipline. All of my instructors would post their assignment at the beginning of the week. You were responsible for doing assignments and emailing or posting them for discussion within that week. Keep in mind not all instructors started their week on Sunday or Monday. I love it and am going to be sorry when I have to start taking on-campus courses. Good luck!

I'm taking an online class currently...Human Growth and Development. Supposed to be an easy A. Everyone who was smart enough to not take it online is going to have their easy A. I am struggling for a B or C right now. It's really bad. I am sure it varies from instructor to instructor and course to course.

I got my BS and MS distance and loved it. Very flexible for their ciriculum.

I am currently taking Theatre History and Humanities online. I love online courses, but the only thing is there usually is more work than a on campus class. I know with my humanities class I have been very busy and have two projects going at once. But even with the extra work, I really enjoy taking online classes and will continue to take as many as I can. It frees up time to be home with my kids.

I love my online classes. Well most of them. I had to drop one because the instructor was not quite sane and couldn't seem to give comprehensible comments.

The most difficult part of an online course, for me at least, is staying on top of it. Especially since I'm taking face time classes too, I tend to forget the online one now and then. But it's easy to catch up, it's flexible and it saves me a day of driving for two hours.

This must be different at different schools, but my online courses have always required a little less work. The one I'm taking now does not require us to make a speech and design an advocay project. All we do is answer a simple question posed online each week.

The lectures tend to be shorter too, since the instructor can't go off on weird little irrelevant tangents.

You have lecture? We get nothing at all from the instructor other than a syllabus. Everything else is done on our own.

Our lectures are typewritten notes. We get tested over them as well as chapter assignments.
