Re: Nursing repayment plan?????????????

What type of payment plan?

I know the government is forgiving student loans for nurses and there are requirements for that.

Beyond that I just know about the typical loan that allows you to make no payments until you are done school. Some give you 6 months after graduation before payments start and some are even a little longer. I got a loan that allows me either 9 or 12 months before I have to start repaying. This loan is only for those in the medical field so I jumped on it.

Yes, these are called loan forgiveness plans. The biggest provider of them is the Federal Indian Health Service. There might be some information about this on the Native American Indian Nursing Forum (http://allnurses.com/forums/f239/). Most of the organizations who have nursing forgiveness loans are either federal or state agencies. To find them either do an Internet search for "nursing loan forgiveness". Also search for them by your state. You can contact your state board of nursing, state nursing association or state hospital association to see if they have any information they can give you on this. With loan forgiveness, you are usually asked to sign a contract and promise to work for a specified number of years for that particular agency over which time your school loans are paid off by them. Another big provider of school tuition is the armed forces. A number of my classmates were reservists whose nursing education was paid for by Army.

You can also go to the US Health and Human services website, Finacial Aid...It tells somewhat about the program.....I am new to this, and I don't get financial Aid....so Student loans for me.....I thought this would be a good deal, if there isn't any red tape.....
