Thumbs down Nurse tech job, can't find one

Hi everyone.
I will be graduating in May and I have been looking for a job as a nurse tech without success. Every hospital calls me back saying that they do not have any openings.
The thing is I need a job! I do not have any work experience at all. I thought maybe since I could not get a nurse tech position, I should apply for CNA. Do you think it is a good idea? I have been looking into other minimum wage jobs but I feel it's a shame that I can't use my nursing skills right now...any other ideas?

THanks!

Re: Nurse tech job, can't find one

I was on craigslist and I saw that a nursing had put herself on there looking for a job. She said that she was a senior nursing student at the local university and she was open to working. I don't know what happend but it's an idea. I saw that there are some people on there who want nursing students to help their family members and it seemed that the pay was pretty good. Mainly home health jobs but it's a start.

Don't know if you are an lpn or rn student. But I am a lpn student in Ohio and after months of applying at different hospitals realized that all the tech positions were for rn's only. What a disappointment. I wanted to put what I had learned in school to use and hone my skills while making a little money. It never worked out. Hope it is not like that where you live.

Re: Nurse tech job, can't find one

I have the exact same problem. I m still looking. After MONTHS of applying online and getting no response I have been told to find someone who works at the hospital you are looking to work at and have them help you. It is so frustrating because there are hundreds of CNA/nurse tech jobs posted online to apply for but it's useless! No one ever calls back. You might also try finding out who the unit director is and email them or find thema nd introduce yourself in person. In texas you do not have to be an RN to be a nurse tech, you only have to have your first clinical rotation done. I found a family friend that is an RN, and I'm asking her for her help. I will let you know how it goes. Good luck and keep trying.
