Question? - ns application

i've posted before on the pre-nursing student forum and didn't receive much feedback so i was hoping that you guys can help me out since you already got in and maybe have more answers

I applied to two schools with accelerated programs and both are highly competitive: SFSU/Canada prg and Samuel Merritt ABSN

I'm stressing myself out wayyyy too much about waiting to hear back from these schools and I have some questions about my chances

I graduated from Berkeley with a 2.8 GPA and I majored in Integrative Biology. I re-took one semester of Biology (lab was ridiculous) and one semester of multi-variable calculus (i took it freshmen year because i liked math in hs and that was a big mistake!)... I also took really cool classes, like Hormones and the Behavior, sports medicine, and 2 psych classes. I took 3 pre-reqs at a local cc and got A's, yay! (dev. psych, speech, and micro bio)

I scored an 88 on the NET and I volunteered at a hospital for a year.

I work there now in a non profit organization in the geriatrics department.

I'm worried because I feel like I wasted four years at Berkeley and I'm mad at myself for not working harder to get better grades. I didn't know I wanted to be a nurse until my last semester.

I want an honest opinion on wether I have any chances of getting accepted into the 2 programs I have applied and if I don't get in, what should i do to better my chances for next time?

Thanks in advance

Re: ns application

Which campus at Samuel Merritt did you apply to? And when are you hoping to start? I will be graduating from the San Mateo campus in June. Another cohort starts in June at San Mateo. You should call the admissions people at Samuel Merritt and ask about your chances. I think my statistics were about the same as yours except I had to take many more pre-reqs and I got all A's on them.

SFSU is much harder to get into, it's cheaper and they have more applicants for less seats. I am pretty sure your gpa has to be closer to a 4.0 than for SMC.

Good luck!

Re: ns application

I applied to the San Francisco campus for Fall 08. I don't really have a preference, I tried calling the admissions councelor to ask how to have my application reviewed for San Mateo as well and I can't get a hold of anyone. They start dates for the two campuses are different, a few months a part and I'm hoping they can just hold on to my application for San Mateo's if I don't get into SF. thanks for your reply
