If there is no way around it, and you absolutely have to keep your job, and this is the schedule you have to keep, then I agree, try setting some designated time for family and friends. Yes, it's going to suck, but it is 5 months. There is an end in sight. The paper chain idea is a cute one, and it might help because it can help you *see* an end to the overdrive. Or, you could get a calendar and mark off the days.

Make sure you get adequate sleep, because, as I'm sure you know, when you're tired, things seem so much worse than if you're not. Make sure you eat well and take some time for yourself. That may mean just a few minutes on your drive to/from work or school, but it's still important. If there is no alternative, then all you can do is get through as best you can, and remind yourself daily (hourly?) that there is an end. Take care and good luck!
