Hello Sadrobin,
Welcome to allnurses! I am sorry to hear that you are feeling a lack of motivation so early in your nursing career. I do agree with the others on the fact that it takes alot of motivation to be successful in nursing school, but I want to encourage you to continue on with your goal. It is well worth the work!
It sounds like the underlying cause of your decreased motivation is a lack of self confidence. You have been out of school and are now questioning your ability as a student, whether you will be 'competitive'...able to keep up with the other students. That is very understandable. But you will never know if you do not try.
It is good that you are taking classes this winter (pre-nursing courses/pre-req's I assume) Perhaps they will jump start your engine and get you excited about all that you are getting ready to learn. Keep in mind that learning in Nursing class and learning in English class vary greatly...so do not predict your success or failure based on that comparison. I know that I adore anything to do with science and perform much better in my science/nursing courses than I do in such courses as english/music/art, etc.
I am glad you came here with your frustration. Looking for support shows that there is SOME motivation to pursue nursing...you just need to get the ball rolling. Hopefully, you will find nurses and students here that will keep you inspired on such bleak days, as I have during my time in nursing school!
Keep your head up!
