no available clinical sites!

Being the "guinea pig" class at my school, we, the night class (graduating 1/9/09!!) just have to go with the flow. But it saddens us that we might not get a true OB rotation. The problem? Our clinicals are Saturday, all day. The sites that contract with the school for the Monday-Friday'ers, don't seem to be so cool with the idea of Saturdays. The result could be virtual simulation, in the classroom, on the computers. We are so bummed! Of course, there are plenty of LTC facilities and Assisted Livings, but when we get to OB and Peds, we might be staring at a computer screen for a 12-hr Saturday.
boo. we just pray for the local hospital to pick us up soon!
has anyone else been shorted this way?

Re: no available clinical sites!

Eeww - that sucks. My OB rotation was on Sundays and Mondays, in the evening. I would hate to think you'd miss out on what was one of my favorite experiences. Observing birth just can't be the same as being there.

My first day I coached a woman in labor for three hours. I'll never forget it.

I'll be hoping this gets resolved. Hang in there...
