New Year's resolutions - How are you doing?

We're a couple of months into 2007 and I am curious about whether everyone is sticking to their resolutions for this year, especially the ones related to school.

Did you make a New Year's resolution? If so, have you kept it?

Re: New Year's resolutions - How are you doing?

I'm doing great, considering I resolved not to make any resolutions. Did the same last year and I had a pretty good year. I find I make unrealistic goals and then get depressed when I don't reach them.

I do have a list of things I want to do. I don't feel that they are unrealistic. Things on the list are seeing the pyramids, taking pilot lessons, taking an Alaskan cruise, etc.

You asked, so how are you doing on your resolutions?

Re: New Year's resolutions - How are you doing?

This wasn't as much a New Year's resolution as it was a wake up call. I am about to undertake 15 months of pressure starting in May, and I decided not to approach it at anything less than my best. I had a problem with caffeine giving me frequent headaches (2 or 3 per week). So in November I suffered through 4 days of withdrawl headaches, and now I have so much more energy and not a single headache. I didn't need the caffeine for energy, and actually, it was counter-productive. Drink water! Drink water! Drink water!

As a result of dropping caffeine, adding whole grains, healthy fats, and reducing refined sugar I've dropped about 11 pounds and I feel great.

I sound like a Nutrition advertisement, huh?

Thumbs up Re: New Year's resolutions - How are you doing?

My 2007 resolutions weren't a thought out plan so to speak. I decided I would be smoke free in 2007 and guess what..I AM!! Its been almost 3 months since my last cigarette. Quite an accomplishment for someone who's been smoking since 13 yrs of age (sooo NOT proud of that)..and edged her way up to almost 2 packs a day!

And..this does kind of pertain to school. I resolved to do or die..follow my dream and become a nurse..and that to has been resolved, I start school on March 12th...11 days away!

Re: New Year's resolutions - How are you doing?

I've actually kept up pretty well so far, despite a maddening schedule in an ABSN program. I've been getting up earlier, and I would say that about four mornings out of six (I take Sundays off, unless I was particularly lazy/busy/tired the week before, or I know the upcoming week will be particularly busy) I've been on the treadmill and have done 1.5 miles before 0600.

I've managed to lose ten pounds, with about five to seven more to go (the stop point is contingent on when several pairs of pants fit again!). So not a bad haul.

Like you, I have no resolutions. So anything good that happens is a nice surprise, and if something bad happens, well that's life and you have to take the highs with the lows (well that is how I rationalise it !)

Re: New Year's resolutions - How are you doing?

Congrats to all of you who have been keeping up with your resolutions!
I haven't managed to stay on top of things so well. My resolution (pertaining to school) was to get and stay more organized, in an attempt to get control of my time management...hasn't happened thus far. I started out on the right foot, I began by getting the house cleaned and organized, then by getting my desk and school stuff organized....and then classes started. I haven't stayed on top of any of it and the house is falling apart and I'm constantly doing my assignments and studying at the very last minute (as usual).
Spring break is coming in a couple of weeks and I'm going to use the time to get things back on track and try again!!

Re: New Year's resolutions - How are you doing?

I resolved not to freak out about nor getting perfect A's anymore.
I am doing quite well and am very happy with my B's. And sooooooo less stressed out. Also, my hands-on clinical work/patient interaction has improved since I'm focusing less on the straight-up grade and more on the application of what I'm learning. If that makes any sense at all.....

I had hoped to be nailing an A in the WebCT class I'm taking, but it looks like I have a B right now.

I did start tracking some general/life goals on 43things.com and I've gotten a few of those accomplished, so I guess it's not terrible.
