Me too! New Balance has 1 pair of solid white shoes. They are sooo comfy!

Re: Need help with shoes.....

I'll check out the New Balence and see if I like them. I am definatley going to invest in some kind of support socks or hose. My legs are already getting vein problems from working as a medical assistant. I don't need any more problems when in nursing school. Thanks guys.

Re: Need help with shoes.....

I usually love Reebok tennies, but haven't yet found a pair that work for a long shift. My daughter bought me a pair of Crocs and they're okay for the most part, but I seem to have that tripping problem that you can read about on other posts. I haven't tried them on a 12-hour shift yet, so couldn't give you a reading on that.

I bought Danskos ($120) as I had read a lot of good things about them on another thread. I was a bit worried about their weight as they felt a little heavier than I am used to wearing. Unfortunately, after several 12-hour shifts in the ER, I will only wear them off and on. They ARE heavy on my feet and sometimes cumbersome. That's the scary part about spending $100+ on a pair of untested shoes.

I have ended up switching off a couple of different pair of tennies. I have not tried New Balance, but since my internship is over and I'm staying on as a tech, may make the investment.

Good luck!!

Re: Need help with shoes.....

I love new balance shoes as well...but our nursing program requires a "nursing shoe" from a nursing company. I don't get it...why can't we just get a shoe that we know works. I bought some cherokee shoes...but I'm not crazy about them. Any other suggestions? Thanks

I wish I knew. I bought some fairly cheap Rockers clogs and they're comfortable for about an hour but after that my feet and legs kill me.

I heard Merrell's are good. I think I read, maybe under the Emergency Nursing section, that a lot of them like that brand. I think it's like someone else says, each person has their own needs/likes.

Good luck.

I have been diagnosed with Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome (a month before the start of nursing school no less!) and have learned to just take the pain. I went to the website and from the testimonials the shoes seem awesome! I don't like the way they look from the heel, but I read somewhere on the site that you can get covers for them? I found a retailer so maybe I'll try them out...

Re: Need help with shoes.....

We have to have a regular nursing shoe at school also (starts tomorrow), so I bought a pair of SAS. My hairdresser swears by them so I tried some on and they fit like a glove. I have a lot of foot problems and wide feet with a high arch so I am hoping this does the trick.

My husband loves New Balance and won't use anything else.

There are padded socks out there too, if you have a tendency to get blisters. If you're feet swell, there are non-binding socks, and there are support socks also.

Good luck to you.
