Worried - This may be it for me!!

Out of the 5 ERI tests we've done, I've only passed 2. We have to pass it at the end of the semester or we won't graduate! I took the practice tests and scored high risk again! I have a B avg. What else can I do? Is there any hope for me??????? Help me!!!!

Re: This may be it for me!!

I'm sorry that you are having these problems. My advice is to get some help at that school to figure out WHY you are not able to well on these tests. Diagnose your learning/performance problem properly and then make a plan to work on those skills that you need to improve. Does your school have some sort of learning center or tutoring service that could give you some help. Have you met with your faculty advisor and sought some direction from her/him?

Fretting about it without doing something concrete to improve your test performance won't help the problem. You need to locate the resources in your community that can help you develop those skills. Most schools have some services ... but if yours doesn't, you might try a local community college or a private "learning center."

1...take a breath....
2. Talk to your instructors and try to figure out what you can do to make it easier to pass
3. Take your time when taking it...
4. which subjects are giving you trouble? Focus on those...

I think you should ask for a consultation with your instructor(s). I would ask them to honestly evaluate what you need to be addressing. I would find a study group who challenges you...I think this is important because if you are in a study group where you are constantly the one explaining things, you are not being challenged. (Personal opinion and experience).

Most of all don't be hard on yourself. If you are constantly scoring near or at the same level then there must be something(s) that might not have fully been understood. No one person understands everything perfect. Relax, and trust that you can do this. You made it this far and you can make it the rest of the way.

Re: This may be it for me!!

Do as suggested, consult with your instructors, find out what you are doing wrong, change your methods for preparing, prepare, and keep on going. Don't give up. You can still do it. Remember to relax. Preparing properly, instead of simmering over it, will be a lot more productive use of your energy.
