Any problems or lack of software for you mac people while in Nursing school? I heard some schools are requiring PDAs and they usually sync better with PCs.

I'm bored while at my old job waiting for nursing school to start.

This is a great question! I'm wondering the same thing. I am a Mac user and I've been debating buying a PC since I'm afraid I won't be able to sync as well. I've heard that Palm works better with Mac...but don't know for sure.

I know what you mean about the boredom. I'm so used to having hours of studying/papers/research to do and now I'm just counting the days. It's like I don't know what to do with myself. You'd think I could just relax while I have the opportunity!

My old job hired me back after a two year lay off($27/hr!) but I don't enjoy working there which is why I'm going to nursing school. They just don't know that I'm quitting two weeks before school starts. They laid me off for two years, exactly the time I needed to take all of my prereqs. Now I'm just up there bumming like the rest of the slackers! I can't put my all into a job I'll be leaving soon.

Get a PC..There days, most schools have only PCs in their computer rooms

As an electrical engineering major, being a mac user was a major pain because the current versions of most of the software we used were only available for the PC...

...but I'm not sure what types of software your nursing program will require. Your best bet is to ask the department what their opinion is.

Use whichever suits your needs better. The only reason why I use PC's (with Windows) is the fact that I'm a gamer, and it generally works out better that way (especially since I like to put together my computers myself). xP

I'm a second year nursing student from Down Under, and proud owner of a Mac.
As a general principle i'd recommend a Mac over a PC just because they are easier to use and screw up less.
However, i have had problems with software, most of my Nursing text books come with accompanying CD-ROMs, of which only about half work on Macs.

I bought Office for Mac, which i think is a must, so i've had no trouble with word documents or powerpoint projects not working on the PC's at Uni. I've also had no trouble downloading lecture notes or using other software at Uni. If i need to check some of the info on the CD-ROMs that don't work i can go to the library and do it.

I think in the end its just a personal choice, whichever one you like better, both of them have their pros and cons.

Macs. I love my iBook and it's 4 years old, it still works perfectly.

i LOVE my mac. i don't think i'll ever go back to PC.

from what i understand Palm PDAs work just fine with macs, but you're pretty much out of luck as far as syncing goes if you want a pocket PC.
