Need Information - Lots of questions

Ok first off let me just introduce myself I have posted before but I am more of a lurker...Anyway I am the mother of 4 wonderful boys and I own a nail shop I am now in my final semester of nursing or I should say going to start my final semester next week and I am scared to death!!! I am not sure I feel confident enough to be a NURSE, I am sure many people go through this and I am sure everything works out but its really hard to think this way...Anyway I am trying to get a head start on things I have already done the objectives foir test one and read the chapters and am now working on the study guide does anyone know where I can go to review more for certain systems...I want to get all the knowledge I can get now before I am thrown out to the wolves ehehehehe....
Thanks for any encouraging words you may also have
Rachelle

Re: Lots of questions

Wow! You already completed your first weeks reading? a week before school?

I worked on NCLEX review questions over the break and I plan to make that a once a week deal. I plan to work in the MICU so I have been trying to grasp vents a little more by researching online and using resources on this site.

I dont know the stress of being a mother, cause I am not one. But maybe you coud you the free week to spend sometime with your kids before the demands of nursing school start shooting at you.

Oh, stop stressing you'll do fine as an RN. Just make sure you get into a good new grad program

Re: Lots of questions

I really understand your situation. I'm entering my last semester next week as well and have been working on nclex questions with a focus on things I havent' learned.

I'm also going back and doing study cards for all the lab values and tests that I'm not sure of.

I'm trying to focus on the gaps.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

Re: Lots of questions

I'm right there with you. I start my last semester on the 14th and feel the same way. I constantly worry about how much I know I don't know. The closer that graduation gets, the more stressed I feel about what I've heard on the forum about corporate views vs safe nursing practices. I hate that the bottom line is the dollar instead of patient care and safety. However, despite my concerns I know that I just want to be the best nurse I can be all around. The stress just sucks that's all.

Re: Lots of questions

First of all hats off to you doing all you have done and having 4 kids at home...if you can be the mother of 4 and still be sane then I am confident that you can do anything. Remember that you still have a semester left before you have to get out there and be official, just think how much more you know now than you did at the beginning of last semester. So I am sure that by the end of this semester you will know even more and maybe what you learn this semester will give you that boost of confidence that you need to feel as though you are ready. We all know how nervous we get at the beginning of each semester, and this is the last time you have to have that feeling YEA!!!! You have made it this far and now that light at the end of the tunnel should seem pretty real, I am sure you will kick butt this semester...after all you are already off to a good start!

As far as somewhere that you can do a system review, here is a link to a site that is posted in another thread. I looked over the CV section and it seemed really great so hopefully it will help you out.

Good Luck and try to stay as motivated as you are right now!!
