I'm looking for a list of external anatomical terms for cheek (buccal) neck (cervical)arm (brachial).....I can't seem to find an A&P site w/these....they all have superior, anterior, etc but I had e-mailed the Prof on what to start studying for my fall class and she said these terms......can anyone help? Thankyou
A medical dictionary will have these terms. My copy of Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary had every term listed in it. You will need one for nursing school eventually. Until then you can use these online ones:
http://www.medterms.com/script/main/...rticlekey=2679 - "Cervical: Having to do with any kind of neck including the neck on which the head is perched and the neck of the uterus. The word "cervix" in Latin means "neck". That is why cervical vertebrae and cervical cancer involve quite disparate parts of the anatomy joined only by the meaning of the word "cervix"."
http://cancerweb.ncl.ac.uk/cgi-bin/omd?buccal - "<anatomy> Pertaining to or directed toward the cheek. <dentistry> In dental anatomy, used to refer to the buccal surface of a tooth."
http://cancerweb.ncl.ac.uk/cgi-bin/omd?brachial - "1. <anatomy> Pertaining or belonging to the arm; as, the brachial artery; the brachial nerve. 2. Of the nature of an arm; resembling an arm."
