Hello all! I am about to graduate from the PN program at Laurel Oaks in Wilmington Ohio. I must admit that all though it has been a very long year, it truly has been an experience I am so happy I attended.

I had originaly applied to the scarlet location, however was informed that it was full. Not wanting to wait.. I signed up for the long treck to Laurel Oaks. One I have never regreted!

Contrary to what one or two other students (past or present) may have written, Laurels program is very informative, very challenging, very fair, and worth every single penny I have invested, if not more!

The instructors (whom I wont mention their names only because of privacy reasons) are warm, compasionate, knowledgable, & caring women who have devoted their time and lives to teaching the future nurses of tomorrow. (You have to want to teach.. because you cant possibly want to teach for money.)

I cant think of one experience that I could mention that was negative in any way. And to be honest with you, if anyone was to say something negative it could only be the result of their own bent up anger and frustration that they may have for their own behavior, or lack of participation within the program.

So for all those future students that are thinking of attending at any school.. Not just Laurel, keep in mind that you get out of life what you put into it. This included nursing school. Give all you have, and then reach down inside to find a little more to give. It will go by faster then you think and will pay off a million times over again. Not just in finances, but on the faces of every patient you cared for and on the faces of your family and loved one's who helped you along the way.

You can not walk in to any nursing program w/out putting 110% into your own education. You can not expect to just show up, only partially listen or take notes and always get life handed to you on a silver platter. IT JUST DOESNT WORK THAT WAY! In nursing as well as in life.. you have to earn your knowledge with hard work and dedication.

Keep in mind when you start school your not always going to agree with everything your classmates, or instructors will say or do, but there is always a reason. There is always a method to the madness..when all else fails there is an ending... a rainbow after every rain cloud.

I have to pay tribute to those few in my class that I felt cried at every whim because they felt they were being treated unfairly...even though I sat back and listened to your complaints and half heartedly said I understand what you were saying.. I didnt necassarily agree with you.

Its kind of like the old faithful dog...whose owner beat him for just stepping in his way, the dog was faithful with every breath in his body to the owner, although he didnt deserve it. He still came when called, he still protected the owner when their was possible harm, he was still devoted.

The dog is an example of my instructors... Faithful, loyal, and always there when you wanted them or needed them, even for those few students who badgered them, degraded them or threw temper tantrums in pathetic attempts to get their way.

Old faithful! (Dont know if my instructors will ever read this site but incase they do here it goes...)

Thanks Ladies!!... if ALL of your students havent said it, allow me to say it in their behalf. Thank you for those long nights grading our tests, preparing for lectures, coming up with new and improved methods to help us learn (who wants to be a millionare question game) Thanks for listening when some of us had issues and wanted to give in. Thanks for never once judging anyone based on their personal beliefs, their fears, or their home lives. Thanks for never giving up on us even when we wanted to our selves. You always believed in every single one of us! You are my personal inspiration as to the type of nurses I want to become.

Wish me luck I graduate in Aug and hope to take my boards soon after.

It sounds like you had some of the same student issues that we did in my graduating class. I must agree, the program is great and the Laurel instructors are wonderful. I miss them.... wish I could get to Wilmington to visit but am working and transitioning LPN to RN right now so i just don't have the time. I do email them though...
