Re: Just curious about how other schools work

I'm in a 2 year ADN program and my school admits 120 students in the fall and 120 in the winter. Lecture classes usually meets twice a week and clinicals are twice a week.
Our classes are 7.5 wks long. We have four 15 week semesters divided into the 7.5 wk sessions. Semester 1: is foundations lab and lecture and Med/Surg I. Then you move to semester 2-Med/Surg 2 and OB. Semester 3 is Med/Surg III and Psych. Semester 4 is Med/Surg IV and Peds. Pharmacology, Physical Assessment, Nursing Issues, and Nursing Transitions are thrown into each of those semesters.
It is extremely fast paced and we are responsible all of the assigned reading content (even if the instructor doesn't cover it in lecture or breathes a word about it, if it is in the book it can be on the test.)
So when the said we have a four week "break" for the holiday, I am like yeah right, I have 4 weeks to get ahead on some content for next semester.
