Hello everyone!! I am 42- doing the RN Refresher program after a 9 year hiatus from nursing (after my husband was killed in a mining accident). I don't have any children, and have remained single. I have completed everything, including my preceptorship in the ER, except for 3 assignments- I have been procrastinating for no reason that I know...it is thru distance education, so without the deadlines in a classroom, I am really good at doing everything except the assignments...it feels amazing to be back, and this site is great for passing time (and great info) when I should be doing my homework!!!HELP!!!

Hey gang!

I'm 27 and recently married (my husband is VERY supportive.) I have no children and just bought my first home. I have four cats and I love to play softball (if time permits!!!)

I work part time in my home (best job, ever) for a local company and I have my Associate's degree (not in nursing.)

I am a senior in a BSN program. I am set to graduate in May, 2003. All this after being in college for almost 10 years. It's a long story.

Anyways, I can not tell you my name though because I think they hate me enough at my school already!

I wish all of you out there luck in your pursuits and thank you for letting me vent my frustrations over the past few days.

Hi, my name is Kris (single, 3 cats) and with only one class left to go for my A.A. in Accounting, I've decided to take some of the prereq's needed for my school's ADN (A&P and human development). Hoping to get into the September class (class of May '05) Since I've gotten out of H.S. 20 years ago, I've been flirting with the idea of nursing, even being accepted in 1983 when I graduated from H.S. At that time, time was not right but I've not been able to get the idea of pursuing a nursing degree out of my head. I realize my obstacle is getting out of my comfort zone. I have, however, worked in the medical field (secretary), and through my years have come to admire the nurses I worked with greatly.

I would love to hear from others who have also switched from a business direction to nursing. Should I? Am I crazy to pursue this when I am so close to finishing my AA in Accounting?

Your not crazy

Kris,
Welcome. You are not crazy but I would encourage you to finsih the current degree since you are so close.

Once nursing gets in your blood, it doesn't leave. The idea might take a sabbatical for some time, but the desire just hangs on.

Good luck to you and hope to see you back here again.

I've been out of HS for over 27 years and I'm going back too.

Enjoy,
C

Hi! My name is Johnny. I am now and have been a paramedic for over twenty years. Before I became a paramedic I got my LPN and have used it to work as a nurse in different areas and for different periods of time. It is at this point that I have decided to finally complete my ADN. I have all the prereqs and have been looking at the Excelsior program (although some of the posts concern me). If anyone has any suggestions as to study guides, or any other area, I would appreciate.
