I have a pharm test tomorrow, so hopefully someone can help with this! Anyway, it may seems like a dumb question with an obvious answer, but here goes. Okay, say you are working with an insulin that has the following qualities:

Onset: 60 min
Peak: 2-3 hrs
Duration: 6 hrs

And now say you administer it at 7:00 am. It will start working at 8:00 am. Here's my question: At what time does it peak and when does it end? Do you calculate this based on the time of when you administered it, or based on the time of onset? I.e., would the duration be 6 hrs after 8:00 or 6 hours after 7:00? Would the peak be 2-3 hours after 7:00 or 2-3 hours after 8:00??

It's from the time you gave it.
So
Onset is 8:00
Peak is 9-10
duration is 1:00

Also dont forget to take into account other factors that will alternate blood sugar levels with or without insulin, for example, when the patient has an infection, blood sugar levels tend to run h igher. did the patient eat their meal or refuse, throw it up etc. I have given juice for a low blood sugar that brought the sugar levels up in ten minutes from 68 to 105...isn't the body a crazy thing?
