Ideas for Nursing Grad Party

Hey everyone! This might be a little premature but I have confidence! I graduate nursing school in 6 weeks!!! I am already sort of planning my graduation party, I am planning on middle of July for the party.

Anyway, I want to have a nursing theme! I have decided to do jello shots in unused 10cc syringes, possibly vodka lemonade in unused foley bags, chips & dip in wash basins and emesis basins, maybe use some Kerlex instead of streamers etc. I just wanted to see if anyone else can add their creative 2 cents!! I have bought some UNUSED still in package items off of Ebay. ANY suggestions would be helpful.. Thanks and have a good one!!!!

I'm thinking of a game like pin the tail on the donkey. Except instead of a donkey tail onto a donkey butt, make it like sticking a venous catheter into a forearm or something.

Alton Brown on the food network did an episode where he made jello molds of hearts, brains, kidneys...maybe you could do that. But, then again the people attending this party may not get the humor of it....
I love the foley bag and kerlex ideas...Too funny!

I still have two semesters to go, but my classmates and I are planning a clinical uniform bonfire.

I love the idea of having a uniform burning. Send invites using a prescription pad or nurses notes template. You can find all sorts of clip art images to print for decoration (nurses caps, syringes, red crosses, etc). Love the heart and kidney shaped jello-shots, do a punch with blood oranges, or serve bloody mary's. I like the idea of vodka lemonade, but I just can't drink anything out of a foley bag (even a new, unopened one ... gag!)

Re: Ideas for Nursing Grad Party

I will be getting my Associates Rn I dont know if I should still have a big party. My sisters who graduated with their bachlers in business had big parties but I dont know if I should tell my mom to throw me a big party with only my associates? Any thoughts?

Re: Ideas for Nursing Grad Party

Lizzyette,
Of course you should throw yourself a party!!! YOU DESERVE IT. Don't ever dumb yourself down and say I "only have an associate degree" You worked hard and the fact of the matter is that an associate NURSING degree can in NO way be compared to a bachelor's in many other areas. Look at the amount of responsibilty you will have in your job, the demands, nursing is an honorable profession and you should be proud of yourself... I'm proud of you!!

Ditto! I know you've worked dam*** hard to get that degree; don't ever let anyone tell you it's "only" anything. You deserve a party! And hey, if your mom doesn't want to throw the party for some reason, throw it yourself and have a blast, OK?
