I need to vent....

School is three weeks away, I am having a hard time finding a bank that will give me an education loan due to bad credit (absolutely my fault), the due date for my baby girl is September 20th (my wife and I are so excited) and last but not least I am finishing up a dormer on my house that may or may not be ready in time for the birth of my daughter.

I am working on the dormer after work until 10 PM and that is after being up at 5 AM and working 8 hours. Needless to say my plate is full and my life is unbelievably stressful at the moment.

Have you tried Sallie Mae? If it wasn't for the 35k she lend me, I would not be here today. You don't have to pay back until 6 months after you graduate.

Much luck to you and congratulations to you and your wife on the baby girl

Re: I need to vent....

Did you fill out the Fafsa forms? I know I wouldn't be able to get a loan if I just went to the bank, but I did qualify for student loans when I filled out the FAFSA.

Re: I need to vent....

I would indeed go to your finanacial aid office at your school and fill out the FAFSA. I found I was eligible for grant money I didn't know existed. Do that first. You can even visit them online at www.fafsa.ed.gov

Doing this and seeing what your finances will be for school should take some of the stress out of your life so that you can work on the dormer and welcome that baby girl!

Good luck to you.

Re: I need to vent....

I am so sorry you have so much stress in your life right now!!! I know another poster had mentioned Sallie Mae...I've heard that most people are given a loan from her...sounds like one to check out!!!

Best of luck with the dormer your building (what is that anyway?)!!! Hope you get done with it quickly!!!

And best of luck and congrats on the upcoming birth of your daughter!!! Very exciting times for sure! I have a daughter who was born on the 15th and will be turning 2!!! Enjoy - she will be the most important thing ever!!!

Re: I need to vent....

Definately go fill out a FAFSA, and ask for a Stafford Loan, they ARE NOT based on credit!

That's right. And with other types of loans you can get someone with good credit to co-sign.

Starting on the path to a new career and becoming a new father is a lot to take on. Have confidence in yourself, and good luck!
