I am in my first semester of nursing school. I waited 2 years after finishing my prereqs and I was nervous at first, but I love it! The classmates are wonderful, the teachers are so supportive, and I still have plenty of time to spend with my family and still maintain the grade I want. The school is not easy, but is managable. I just wanted to say something positive because I know that it is much easier to be inspired to write about the negative then the positive. Good luck to everyone!!

Count me in, I feel the same way! I was rejected the first time and made it a second time around. I am constantly telling everyone I know I am in nursing school and no longer hoping to go!

I am so happy! Currently I too have lots of support from staff, family, friends, etc. and I am a good student. Thus, I am loving Nursing School!

On the other hand, we are only in first semester and so we are not exactly experiencing everything nursing school has to offer. I am told by advanced semester students that our pace is not as bad as other semesters. Plus, according to my instructors, the expectations are not as high. Apparently starting second semester there will be a great leap from where we are at to where we will be on the first day. However, I am positive about the transition.

I am working very hard right now in order to be used to a particular way of studying. I am happy to say that my exams are NCLEX type, so next semester will not be a cultural shock in that regard. I can't wait to start my Med-Surge rotation because it will be very challenging and I expect to learn and grow a great deal! Good luck to you and keep up the positive attitude!

I love it too!! I just finished the first quarter. We did clinicals with CNA's at a nursing home and it was a great experience. I'm in a class of 20 and we all get along well. On my two week break before the next quarter I'm reading ahead for med/surg. Next clinincal rotation will be in pediatrics.

Well I'm a third semester student and I'm still in love with school and with nursing. Will graduate in the Fall, and then, as everyone always tells us, the REAL learning will begin. Can't wait!

Me too! Second semester here and its still amazing. Every day I learn something new and it makes me want to keep going and learn as much about medicine as I can. It really makes you realize how amazing the human body/system is!

School kind of sucks for me. I just got done with nursing fundamentals, easy class, often more stressful than hard, although in retrospect there was nothing to majorly stress out over. Now I'm in peds/OB.. Just got done with peds, and it sucked because we virtually had crap clinicals; observation only of stuff that you could easily learn from a book anyway. Nothing hands on, at all. Now I'm in OB, and clinicals look a little more prospective as we might get to actually do some hands on stuff, but still not as much as I'd like to do. I mean, I work at a hospital and I get to do more stuff than I'm getting to do in school right now, and I definitly get to see more stuff. I kind of feel bad for my classmates who aren't getting to participate in a real healthcare setting because some of them have no idea other than what they've read in books, and most of us know that if you don't get any real hands-on experience then what you learn in books means jack. Anyway, I'm more looking forward to graduating and moving on to a better BSN program than I am about staying in the ADN program I'm in now. But hey, for all I know it could get better and I could actually start learning stuff I see applied in the hospitals I work at. I havn't gotten to take med-surg classes, so hopefully they'll offer a better experience. Maybe I'm just biased against peds/OB because I have no intention of working with either age group explicitly. Maybe I'm just being anal about all of it, but maybe I have a good point. Haha

I am glad im not the only one not in love with school. I am so ready to be out of school it is not even funny. I can say that last quarter which was psych about did me in. We only have 5 clinicals in a 3 month time frame. How in the world are we gonna learn all the hands on we will need for when we step into the working field. I am glad to see that people do love nursing school and i am happy to know that there are good nursing schools out there. Truth is i am happier to learn that there are schools out there that have less hands on . Just a joke. I love to learn. But, I hate being read to like a 5 year old. Which is sadly all they do for us.

3rd semester here and I still love it. It is getting more exciting the more I learn. My teachers say that they love seeing the sparkle in my eye when I see or experience something new. I'm like a kid in a candy store LOL

I'm in third semester and I like it but I am broke and ready to start working, so I am anxious for December to get here.
