Angry I Hate Scrub Pants!!!

Okay, I don't really hate them, but they sure don't like me! I have tried on every pair of white scrub pants at Wal-Mart and our nursing supply store, and they all are the same: the mediums are too small, and the larges fit my waist but look like hammer-pants on my legs, and are WAAAY too long!! I was so frustrated at the nursing supply store yesterday, and on my way out, the people working there finally decided to acknowledge my presense (like the annoyed woman pushing a double stroller w/ two cranky kids could have snuck by them!), and I told them how much trouble I was having. They looked at each other and said, in unison, "Aw, an in-betweener!!" Like I'm a novelty or something. I wanted to strangle them both w/ their size XS scrubs!!! I just said sarcastically, "I guess I'll be back after I lose 20 pounds." Does anyone else have a hard time finding scrub bottoms that fit? I have tried Dickies, Peaches, and whatever they have a Wal-Mart. We have to have a pair that fit by Sept. 12, and I don't think its gonna happen!!

Re: I Hate Scrub Pants!!!

Well this is just my opinion but I would go for the ones that fit comfortably no matter what they look like. I stay in shape and look good in Levi's but really couldn't give a hoot what my arse looks like when I'm at clinical, lol. There are too many other things to stress out over! Jules

Yeah, I have given up looking good in them. The problem is, one of our clinical instructors is very particular in how they fit. She doesn't want them to be tight, but they can't balloon out at all. Also, they can't come up over our shoes and show our legs when we sit down or hit the floor when we walk. I understand they want us to look professional, but come on. I am not a seamstress, but I think I may have to buy a pair and find someone to alter them. I don't know what else to do.

Oh my! It does sound like you will have to have them altered. Much luck to you.

P.S. Hopefully she isn't one that tucks the top in the pants, that cracks me up!

Re: I Hate Scrub Pants!!!

Im right there with you.

I like the Dickies hip flip, but the regular length are borderline too short and the tall length are too, too long. Plus, the small are "this close" to being too small, but the medium are ******* HUGE!!!!!! There is room for another small person inside of these!!

Im afraid if I wash them, the small will no longer fit my heiny and become capri pants! Or if I gain just one pound of the expected "10 to 20 lbs" we are predicted to gain in nursing school I will be SOL.

Yes, I shouldnt be worrying about this trivial stuff and I should go open a book, I know.

and dont even get me started on the white ones we have to wear for clinicals--

Re: I Hate Scrub Pants!!!

I bought Landau scrub pants - the ones with the elastic waist. I love them. They come in petites if you need them short (and talls too if you're lucky enough to have long legs!) and fit like a dream.

See if you can find them at a uniform outlet - I got them for fifteen bucks a pair at a local outlet.

I agree with the person who said it's not a fashion show. I can't imagine wearing these "low rise" scrubs I see in catalogs and in shops. I have no desire to be worrying about my underwear showing while I'm trying to work in my clinicals! I did buy pretty scrubs (we're lucky enough that we can wear "coordinating" scrub pants and tops) so I feel like I look nice, but i'm not worried about being "stylish".

Re: I Hate Scrub Pants!!!

I like urbane scrubs, but am not sure if I am tall or short or if they have petites. I do know that they do not have the excessively large crotch. I think the website might be www.urbanewarehouse.com. Hope it helps. I also shop from Jasco uniform company online. they carry several different brands.

Your professor needs to get a life. Is this nursing school or a fashion show?

White pants, nursing or otherwise are hard to get perfect. As long as they are clean, reasonably well fitting, and not showing any polka dot undies or red g-strings underneath, WHO CARES???

I noticed Lydia's uniforms and Jasco had a few white pair that were nice and tailored.

Re: I Hate Scrub Pants!!!

Im an in-between too and I emphathize. Try Cherokee boxers in petite. I wore them thru school and they were perfect. They don't have a flare and the legs are perfect.
