:hatparty: This was my 4th attempt at an IV stick. I am so happy to finally have my first stick under my belt. I really owe a great deal of my success to all of you on allnurses. One of the things that I changed was that I sat down this time to get the IV. I had just read a thread on here yesterday where it was suggested to sit down to do an IV. I've been reading every single thread on IV's to help myself out. Yay allnurses! I also asked my instructor to step a couple of steps further away from me and just observe unless she saw something that she needed to address. She was very obliging and encouraging and it eased my anxiety quite a bit. The patient I got the stick on was considered a "hard stick", too. I had to stop myself from doing a jig down the hallway after I got it!

Good for YOU !!!
OK... we'll let you stay up there just a little while longer !
That first one feels awesome! That is a good idea, sitting down...with my first one I was standing up and kinda leaned over and it was very difficult but my instructor for the day is one of our more difficult and she was like right on top of me and everything I was doing. Hopefully my instructors this semester will be better about that!
