Re: I failed with two classes left.....

S. Carter,

Sorry to hear about your situation. I failed a nursing class Fall 06 semester and am having to retake it this fall. I was horrible to live with for about 2 weeks after I failed. I can't answer your questions, but I would try to contact the colleges in your area and get some answers. I do know that not all colleges have the same passing grades. Give yourself some time to work through your feelings, then pick yourself up and start again.
Good luck

So sorry to hear what happened. Likely there is a program that you can get into, but if you can't find one, consider looking at Excelsior College. They accept nursing courses that are not over 5 years old so you would likely get a lot of credit there for everything you've completed to date. You might not like the idea of that program but it is better than letting all that nursing school go to waste. Best wishes.

Hey, don't give up hope, but let yourself grieve. Grieving is healthy.

I don't know what the exact policy is where you are but there were a couple of students who joined my program in the same quarter where they failed the year before. Let me tell you, they were very smart and very good nurses. People fail for all sorts of reasons and it doesn't mean you are a failure. Failure would mean giving up (which it doesn't sound that you are doing) call your school today and find out what you need to do to be included in next year's class. In my school those people were seamlessly included. It will mean waiting another year, but in the scope of things, that isn't such a long time. It will give you time to gather your wits about you, start preparing for boards, and do what you need to do to pass that class next time.

I'm really sorry that happened to you. Please don't let it defeat you.

Re: I failed with two classes left.....

Hey Don't feel bad. I was in your very same shoes. I had a stressful sitaution dealing with, being a single parent, and having to work fulltime in the ADN. However, after I got over the emotional trauma. I went to a major university transferred my hours. IN ONE YEAR I Got a bachelors in Liberal Art and a Minor in Criminal Justice (with honors I might add). Then I applied to an Accerlerated Nursing Program (I year program to get ur BSN not ADN ), because they only take you when you already have a degree and I am in the program right now.

So my advice to you is that, there are many options around you. You know what to expect next time around. You know the manner in which the nursing questions are asked so you will be fine.

Stay focus and do not give up on your dreams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All is not lost. No education is ever wasted. I would like to suggest a different solution for you to consider. Depending on how far you got through your RN training, check your state board of nursing's rules on getting an LPN/LVN license through educational equivalency. You would still have to take the NCLEX-PN. However, if your state will allow you to take the NCLEX-PN, you pass, you will be able to work as an LPN/LVN. That clinical work may very well be what will help put it all together for you. Some people just need a little bit more time to process and assimilate the information. Then, you can go back to get an RN through an LPN to RN bridge program.

If that doesn't appeal or work for you, there are other healthcare careers that have similar pre-requisites that you have already taken and you might try getting into one of those fields.

Good luck!

Re: I failed with two classes left.....

thank you everyone for the support. I needed a few days to think about it. It all seemed sort of surreal to me. like it really couldn't be happening, or that the professor was going to call and say that she made a mistake. Never happened though I wish it would have.
I am still not sure what I am going to do, but I know I will find my path in this life
