I graduate in August, however I feel totally burnt out in school. All I want to is is lie in bed. When I get up in the morning all I am looking forward to is going home and lying in bed/sleeping.I just feel like I have given all I have to give to school and nothing is left. Its the summer but it seems as if coursework is even more intense etc.I am also having trouble focusing.Honestly,I have this feeling of impending doom.I just hope I can get over this hump because I feel miserable.

Breathe. Your feelings and emotions are valid, nursing school is very difficult, especailly if you dont have a support system in place.
Try some meditation, a walk in the park with some flash cards, something to ease your mind a bit.

You need to talk to your doctor. Your symptoms sound more than just stress. Your doc should be able to help. All the best to you--I hope you feel better soon .

I can totally relate! I also get pinned in August and life has been miserable this semester. Seems like the high stress has reached it's peak level and a dark cloud set in.
I've tried excercising, eating healthy, positive attitude, yoga, etc.
I am just praying each day and taking browsing the boards here for encouragement.
Good luck to you, and if you ever want to chat.........PM me!!

Sounds like typical 'Senioritis' to me... You've worked so hard for so long, you're ready to be done! But you still have this one last term to go... Hang in there! Look at it like, today I'm 75% done! Next week I'll be 80% done!
Be sure to take some time for yourself, something YOU enjoy, or you'll be risking a nasty depression. Find someone you can talk to, and TALK, and talk, and talk... a little friendly therapy (especially with someone who either knows your situation intimately or is in the same boat) will work wonders. DO NOT stay in bed -- get out there in the world. Research job opportunities in the field (there are so many options!), look through a cute scrubs catalog, think about how PROUD you will be when you sit for and pass that NCLEX.
If you just can't pull yourself out of this, contact your physician, who will be able to give you a professional opinion.

Sounds like depression to me, since I know from personal experience. In school when we took a social science course at a local college I couldn't keep my eyes open. My friend suggested I go to her doc and ask for dexadrine or whatever to keep me awake. It didn't so I stopped after a few doses. Nursing is a very intense field. Accept that you may be wearing out from stress and/or you may be depressed. bEst

Hon, please PM. We have lots in common. I haven't had health insurance since I aged out of foster care (7 yrs ago). Can't afford it and when I do need to see a Dr. I have to pay cash. It's bad enough that I was exposed to TB and have to have a chest x-ray done every 6 months to the school. Physicals etc.....all out of pocket (payment plan). Not to mention gargantious student loans I have...........we definitely need to talk
Plus, our lovely school implemented the the HESI that we get 3 chances at.
Yes, lots of stress! Also, I have no support system of family in this state. My only family is my mother and she is clear across the country.
Hugs,
Jess

You need to see a doctor or nurse practitioner. Yes, it might just be "senioritis," ... but it also could be actual depression that needs treatment ... and it could also be something physical, such as mononucleosis.
I dragged myself around a couple of summers ago thinking that my excessive tiredness and ocassional feelings of warmth were signs of menopause. After about 3 months, I went to the doctor for something else and the labwork showed I had mono (at the age of 48).
Don't assume it is nothing. If it continues beyond a few days and a few basic efforts to take care of yourself and cheer yourself up, then you need to seek a real diagnosis from a health professional.

Since you use the Bell Jar as your forum name, I assume you are familiar with Sylvia Plath, who was plagued with depression. You should see a doctor. Many communities have some type of mental health facility where payment is based on a sliding scale. They can help with depression as well as a physician.
Take care of yourself.
