Wink how to do procedures better?

Does it just take more practice in the lab or what? I need to be more confident. Should I have another student help me in the lab? should I practice at home? I have all the stuff (kits) please help

Re: how to do procedures better?

Potter and Perry clinical book has all of the clinical procedures in details. What procedures are you having problems with? If it's something simple like blood pressures, you could purchase a cuff and practice on family members or get a nurse tech position.

Re: how to do procedures better?

I don't know what to say....I just completed my second semester and have done very few skills other than meds and injections....discontinued a Foley and NG tube...I have been hired for a SN internship at a local hospital this summer and am really hoping to get a lot of opportunities to use the skills before the fall. Maybe you could try to find a job in a hospital as a tech or aide?!?!
I have this funny feeling you're not alone in this boat. I bet a lot of nurses graduate from school w/o a lot of skills practice...
