Exclamation help needed in finding diabetic patient

hi,can anyone provide me some information where can I find a dibetes patient? I have a project due in the next two weeks and need do some interview. Our instructor told us we can't find patient in clinical. Has to be from friends, family, or community. Unforetunately, I don't know any one. I am a new comer to the community, and live in apartment. People usually don't talk to each other.;( I just need one hour interview. Please help me out. So stressed now.

Re: help needed in finding diabetic patient

Go to the nearest shopping mall and toss a nerf ball into the crowd - odds are you will hit a diabetic! haha!

But seriously, since you don't know anyone, I'd suggest community resources. See if the American Diabetes Assoc has an office in your area and call them. Or any kind of Senior Center or Adult Daycare. Or contact a nursing home - many will work with you when you tell them you are a nursing student. There are many diabetics in assisted or full nursing homes - and many are happy to have someone to chat with for a while.

Nursing school throws you a lot of unusual projects - think out of the box and use the web and your phone book and you'll always find some resources.

Good luck!

Dear godsgift2, yes, I can do phone interviews. I am so touched that in such a short time, there are so many people offers me help. Please check your prviate message.

I hope I didn't get things mess up since I alreay sent a message to Jilaweez. Acutally I have one classmate who is also having the same trouble for finding dibetic person, I was thinking if both of you can offer me an interview, can I give one of the opportunity to my classmates? We are both quiet students, and privacy won't be a problem.

Thanks again.
