Unhappy Assistance - ESL NS help c narrative nursing notes

I have read several messages regarding narrative nursing notes ,but i have not seen any messages from any ESL students
I can understand the frustation that these students are felling. because I am in the same situation but in my case i just happened to be a ESL student (English as a Second Language) .
I am struggling not c what should I chart but how should i write in a "professional way" for example "voided vs urinated"

As a ESL student Is so hard to content my teacher because nurses have a very specific VOCABULARY that they (HAVE TO) use. and anthing diferent or less descriptive is just unaceptable.
does any one knows a good book that help c me narrative notes? expecially vacabulary and clasic sentences like "awakens easily" or "clear and intact"
any tips that u can give me?
any help will be HIGLY apreciated
thanks

Re: ESL NS help c narrative nursing notes

This is actually a very good question, and believe me when I say that learning this new nursing "language" is something that all nursing students share to one extent or another, regardless of whether they are ESL students. I don't know of a book or text that helps specifically, other than picking up what you can from the general nursing texts that we all have to get through.

It may be a small comfort for you to know that we all tend to just pick this up as we go along, learning a few words and phrases along the way. Perhaps you could arrange with your clinical coordinator/supervisor to spend a few hours extra a week at the facility looking at charts and reading them, just to try to learn the terms when you are not under pressure to care for an actual patient. Possibly worth a try I think.
