Need Information - Duke Admissions Process
|
|
I kind of tried to search this but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, (sorry if this is a repeat thread)
I applied to the Duke ABSN program, and I've got an interview comming up. Anyone have any advice? Anyone gone through the whole process of applying, or the program? I really love what I've seen of Duke so far - and want to go there!
I haven't been able to find any statistics either (average grades, how many apply, get interviews, get accepted).
Anyone know anything?
THANKS!

Hi austin215,
I also have an interview at Duke on 2/8, and have been wondering the same thing! Let's hope someone can shed some light!
Good luck!

That's when I'm going to...
I just got the packet today (the 29th). Do you know my letter is dated Jan 25th, and the first two dates for interview were Jan 11th and January 25th. They kind of left me no choice...but I was too excited to care!!!
Do you know if everyone gets an interview?

Kensigton, I got a little more creative with my search terms, and storta found some answers here CONGRATULATIONS & GOODLUCK!
I copied some of the stuff I was looking for below.
178 applications were received this year, and they interviewed 75 people for 56 slots. (Thats from Summer 2006, about Fall 2006).
But...I still would love to hear advice from recent applicants, graduates, ect...

Hi, there! I know, I received my packet on Saturday the 26th, and was a bit confused when I saw that two interview dates had passed (and I knew that others had already been accepted). But I learned that others just turned in their application packets sooner, therefore receiving an earlier interview date and acceptance. So, here's to us getting in!
Thanks for the stats that you found, that really helps, and I hope that our stats are similar, because then we stand a good chance!!
See you on the 8th!!

I didn't interview in person so I can't comment on that, but I can tell you about how things happened for me. I submitted my app on 1/2 and called Duke last week to find out when I could expect a response. They told me over the phone that I had been offered an interview, so I scheduled a phone interview right then for later on in the week, which I think was the same day that interviews were being held on campus. The interview lasted about 30 minutes, and I felt it went great. My interviewer was easy going and very nice. I asked what the 2008 ABSN class size would be, and I was told 72. I got an email this morning telling me that I could access the decision on my application online, and I got in! I'm very excited.
Since I didn't go check out the school for my interview, I'm going to have to visit the campus soon and talk to people there before I accept. I'm also waiting to hear from some other schools, so of course that'll affect my decision.
Good luck to both of you!

Oh my gosh, congratulations!!! Wow, I hope it happens that way (and that fast!) for me, too!
I interview next Friday in person, so I'll be sure to update what happened.
Do you have any idea how many people they are interviewing for those 72 spots?
thanks!

Hi!
I am a 2007 alumni of Duke (although they call us 'Class of 2008') and will actually be helping with the medical campus tours and the student panel next Friday.
I loved my time at Duke and am proud to be an alumni. Should you get in (and those of you that already have), you will have some outstanding instructors, both in lecture and in clinical. I didn't have one bad experience while a student there. I know that at any point I could pop in or email a former instructor and find assistance and a mentor. Our Dean is the best - the first alumni Dean of DUSON - she knows us by name and was very interested in our opinions and suggestions. She truly wants to make Duke a better place for all of us, as do all of our instructors and staff.
Melissa Ziberna in the Admissions Office is an invaluable resource; you can always contact her with questions.
I look forward to seeing all of you next Friday! PM me anytime between now and then.
GO BLUE DEVILS!!!
