do you go to any of these schools? (Texas)

Baylor, Texas Womens, Midwestern State, Univ. Texas at Tyler, or Texas Christian Univ.

Im super stressed about getting in right now. Im finishing up my pre reqs tomorrow and it looks like Im going to get a B in Developmental Psyc. The only extra credit opportunity we have is a 20 page paper on some aspect of child psychology and clearly I dont have time for that now. I know thats not a big deal, but it will bring my GPA down from what I expected it to be and Im paranoid that this will be a huge issue on my apps.

Is a 3.77 still a GPA that will get me in? (Im applying for the Spring 2005 semester and I know some schools base admission on GPA alone so Im really freaking out)

HELP BEFORE I START TEARING MY HAIR OUT!!

Rachel

Also, do schools who base admission on GPA typically post the lowest GPA admitted for each semester somewhere? This info might ease my concerns (or make them worse!)

I'm no specialist, but I'll tell you what know...

BAYLOR UNIV...If you have finished with ALL of your pre-reqs you have a good chance, If not, I heard that they use that as a process of elimination ( I applied for Spring of '04 got into the Univ, but not the nursing school )

TWU-Dallas...Last I heard the starting GPA for admissions was 3.8

U Texas @ Tyler... A girl in my A&P class got accepted for the Fall and as flighty as she is your probably a shoe-in!

Midwestern...HAVE NO IDEA!

TCU...I heard that it's best If you apply to the University, take some classes there first and then apply for the Nursing program (I'm applying there for Spring '05) They accept there own first before they accept transfer students. Most of the time (and the advisor from the nursing dept told me this) by the time they get to transfer students it's no more slots!

Let me know what schools you decide to apply too!

P.S.
When I first started applying I was dead set on an BSN (I still am!) but I'm also applying to some ADN programs, I figure as long as I get my foot in the door the sky is the limit!

If thats the case for TWU, I will be absolutely heartbroken. That is the school that I really want to go to (the others are my back-ups). If I made an A in this class like I had planned to, my GPA would be 3.83...with a B its only 3.77.

How horrible to devote an entire year to improving my GPA as much as I have and then not even get in.

Im in such a bitter mood right now...everyone cross your fingers for me!

Rachel

BTW- I sent in my apps last week...UNT (school Im at now) is holding my transcripts until this summer terms grades are posted and then they will be sent and my apps will be complete.

I think what hurts tranfer students is people that have taken 30+ hours at TWU get .20 added to their GPA...and then you have the people with 4.0's that blow everybody out the water ...I'll say a prayer for you, don't let it stress you out!

KEEP ME POSTED

"people that have taken 30+ hours at TWU get .20 added to their GPA..."

WHAT?!?! The advisors there NEVER told me that. If I had known that, I would have transferred last fall and finished my pre-reqs there. This is disturbing information. I need to stop checking this board and concentrate on my finals for the rest of the night.

I think Ill go sit in the corner and cry now.

Hey! What about Abilene Intercollegiate School of Nursing! This nursing school is associated with, Abilene Christian University, McMurry University, and Hardin-Simmons University. I think you should consider these primary institutions as well as the Nursing School associated with these colleges. Especially ACU!
Go Wildcats!!! Woo-hoo!!!
BTW, all 3 of these schools are Christian.

Are you from that nursing school? The name is changed to Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (PHSSN). I got an offer through rapid review admission process. Coming from a public university and with no previous admission to these universities, I am told to apply for either one of the three schools. I'm leaning my decision towards McMurry University because they require the least amount of credit hours for a BSN. I am also told to finish all of the non nursing courses, including religion, by August of my Senior year. Which means I have one Junior year to complete. Do you happen to know anything about McMurry University?

Re: do you go to any of these schools? (Texas)

I'm not sure about the TWU Denton campus, but I was accepted to TWU Houston with about a 3.5 gpa. I did have a 98% on the NET which I think helped make up for the gpa. I also had all the pre-reqs completed at time of application so maybe that helped too. I went into it thinking I would not get in anywhere and I ended up getting interviews at 4 schools and got into my top two choices. Don't give up. I think a lot of times the numbers and stats that are given out are inflated. Don't get me wrong, there is no doubt it is competitive to get in, but I don't necessarily think you have to have as high a GPA as everyone says.
