a bit overwhelmed

Ugh...just thought I'd post my being a bit overwhelmed. Maybe I'm just tired. We had our 7-7 clinicals this past Sat/Sunday, an MCA II quiz today and we have another quiz tomorrow. I did okay on the quiz today but it seems like no matter how hard I study I can't seem to get that "A". Thefinal for MCA I, I studied for 3 weeks before the exam and managed to get a B-. I feel like I am studying and studying to squeak by and get barely a B grade and then my classmate (whom I love) studies 3 days before the exam and gets the same exact grade. Blah, okay. nine months and three days left.....

Re: a bit overwhelmed

Rianna, if you are comprehending material and learning (which it sounds like you are), don't worry about chasing the "A." I was proud of every B I made in nursing school. Sounds like you need to relax.

Re: a bit overwhelmed

You are probably right. I think I am just getting anxious because our next class MCA III is supposedly the hardest class of the program. Its also soooo much information to learn in such little time. Thanks for the post!!

Re: a bit overwhelmed

Rianna, there is always those in class that will be able to do well with very little study and that may be because they have better test taking skills. Daytonite always seems to have great resources. I read a Test Taking Strategies for Student Nurses book right before I started classes and I can honestly say it helped. Sometimes it isn't so much how much you study, but what you study. It sounds like you are picking up the concepts and B's are not too shabby. I know there are a lot of students on this board that share your frustration, but you are still on your way to being an RN. Hang in there!! Sending you a hug sister student.
Regards,
Jean
