Yes, it actually has made college easier so far. We identify each other's weaknesses and help each other out. Plus, I have the most understanding, patient, and helpful study partner I could ever hope for. Overall, we feel even closer as a couple and we can't wait to start the nursing program together!

I am hoping to start in the Fall of 2008 just waiting for my acceptance letter. I received a 94% composite score and you only need a 50% to apply. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Anyone else in Clarksville Tennessee?

I am hoping to start in the fall in northwest Indiana, at Ivy Tech. It is good to see some other over 40's, I am so excited to get started! I am finishing up some classes and an EMT course that I thought would help my knowledge base. The EMT course has given me great experience in patient contact and assessments and vitals and such. Best of luck everyone!

I start classes on August 18 and have orientation on the seventh and eighth of August. I can't wait to start! I enrolled yesterday and found out that you go to class from eight to three twice a week and have clinicals one day a week. Hopefully I can use one week day as a study day, one to spend with my son, and work on the weekends.

Hi! I missed this thread until now somehow.
I'm a 31 yr old mom to a 13 yr old, 2 1/2 yr old and 7 mo old, and wife to a great techie guy hubby. I start this fall in the LPN program here in SC, and have applied to an LPN to RN transfer program that will start in Jan 2010, giving me a total of 6 semesters for my ADN. I did it that way so that I can get a job as an LPN and work through the second half of school and hopefully gain some skills along the way.
I am another poster child for not putting off school, and my 13 yr old is more set on going to college than breathing after all of my brainwashing to that effect. I got married right out of high school thinking "there will always be time" and then my marriage fell apart before I was even 21, and my son's dad dissapeared off the face of the earth and left me alone w/ no education, no money, no help and a new baby that I didnt know how to take care of. Needless to say, that was almost 13 yrs ago and it took all this time to get back to a point where I could go to school and had enough financial and emotional support to do so (enter my incredible husband of 5ish yrs)
My sister is a medical coding specialist in a pediatric office, my mother and sister in laws are both CNAs, my brother in law just got his LPN, and my other sister in law is starting school this fall for her LPN as well. I dont even talk to them, but it seems to be destiny for my family to be in the medical field. Oh, and my mom is planning to be a hospital volunteer when she retires from the military.
wow what a book! lol! Honestly I have no idea how I'm going to make it through school financially. My husband said he'd rather lose our house than not get through it somehow, though, so we're very determined. I have no doubt that I will get straight A's or die trying. Something about it taking over 10 years to get this opportunity and having to pay for a large part of it myself makes me that much more appreciative of it than I was when I was younger.

oh, and as for how I'm prepping:
We have our acceptance letters coming in June (she called to confirm my address for it). Then we have orientation July 17th, as well as having to get our physical/background check/CPR cert and I'm not sure what else off hand.
I'm taking an algebra 1 class this summer because it was the only one avail at night and I cant afford daycare until the fall. I've got some transfer credits from a previous short stint in college, and have to take 4 or 5 extra classes before the end of nursing school in order to get into the RN prog I want to transfer to so its going to be a busy year.
