It is wonderful to have found others who are starting this venture at the same time as me. I am super excited and have found some invaluable information on this website. I am done with my pre reqs, have been since fall of last year....

Like KobiezMa, I too ordered that book! Like you, I saw that on another thread. Hope that helps. I also went to the bookstore last night and saw TONS of review books to prepare for the NCLEX..it would probably be a good idea to get one of those too. I think I will wait til school starts to ask one of the instructors to point me in the right direction as far as which one to pick.

After orientation, I will have to get a physical and shots, plus a background check and drug screening. I will also have to take CPR this summer, a friend's mom teaches it and she ( she is in dental hygienist school) and I will take that together.

I also start NS in the RN program in NC, (I have waited 5 years to say that) I am nervous and excited. I have taken all my pre reqs but 4. Over the summer I will take my English Literature. I took the spring 08 off to spend time with my family and now it is time to get back into classes. I too have a husband and a teenage son. Ns starts in Aug 18 and orientation is May 20. I just finished my cpr class yesterday and that really has me excited about NS. I will get my background check and shot record today. I am so glad I found this website because I can share my experience with people who understand. Is there anyone that had a friend that also wanted to be a nurse and didn't get in and now that don't want to talk about your experience or hear anything about NS? It has really upset me that my friend is not there to support me. She would tell me that when we recieved our acceptance letters that we were going to go and celebrate. And now that things didn't work out for her, she is not celebrating my accomplishment with me. I have worked hard to reach this point and I'm going to give it all that I got even if she is not there to share it with me.

I have a really good friend that didn't get in and I did for the fall. It was really hard for me because we have done many of our pre-reqs together and we applied together. She has been really happy for me because she knows how long I have waited for it, but I can really tell that she is having a hard time accepting that she will not be starting with me. It kind of puts me in a hard spot because I wanted it really bad for her and it didn't happen.

I'm starting in the Fall after a 3 year waiting list!!! I have orientation May 22nd and then class starts Sept. 2nd. I'm very excited AND very nervous! I'm probably going to buy that book that was mentioned earlier in this thread! It is good to talk to people in the same situation as me! We're in this together!

I start a BSN program in Sacramento this fall. I'm thrilled to be in!! I'm an older student (43) and single mom of two kids (they will be 13 and 9 this fall). I'm planning on enjoying my summer off and spending time doing fun stuff with my kids because I know, come this fall, I'm going to be busy, busy, busy!

Wow, I can't believe that I totally missed this post for this long...lol!

I too am starting NS this Fall and am so glad to see so many folks starting this Fall too.

I am an "oldie" too, starting this journey late in life. I am the poster child for all those students that think they can wait to go to college.

I tell my daughter all time that I don't want her to end up like me changing careers midlife. My excuse at the time was I didn't have the funds, when I was in high school no one talked to me about college or encouraged me to go or ever told me anything about grants/scholarships. I Didn't have the funds because there were just all of those other things I wanted to spend my money on instead of education.

Now I am a single mom returning to school, I know it would have been so much easier when I was young, but I don't think that I would have had the drive to succeed like I do now. (that hindsight 20/20 thing! )

Anyway, I look forward to chatting with everyone throughtout this wonderful journey and good luck to all!
