ADN to BSN curriculum

do ADN to BSN transition programs usually include clinicals as well or is it mostly just lecture courses? the university in my area has both a BSN program and an ADN to BSN transition program but a lot of the courses are the same. i'm just curious how that works when you have a class of nursing students mixed with licensed experienced nurses.

Re: ADN to BSN curriculum

At my school I believe the only course with a clinical component in the RN-to-BS program is community health. The others are all lecture-based courses. Some of them are the same as the regular BS students (i.e. research), but most seem to be geared specifically for the RN student.

Re: ADN to BSN curriculum

The program I completed had a "regular" (scheduled by the school, no options) clinical rotation in public health, and a management preceptorship, which was clinical time but you arranged your own preceptor (had to be acceptable to the school) and arranged your schedule individually with your preceptor (you had to complete X hours, but it didn't matter to the school when/how you did them).

We had lots of classes with the "generic" BSN students, but none of the others involved clinicals.

Re: ADN to BSN curriculum

My assessment class right now is a mix of BSN, ABSN, and RN-BSN students. There is no clinical, but the RN-BSN students have their own lab just for assessment and the rest of us have a combined lab with Fundamentals. The majority of courses that they have to take are offered online, and they just come in for this one and for community (which does have a clinical component) that I know of.
