Hi All
I'm asking this for the 2nd career changers b/c we just had a post clinical conference on resume writing and how best to "sell yourself" and job experience of course came up as a bonus.
I'm supposed to be off this summer for 6 weeks. Right now I'm in the last 4 weeks of med/surg and I'll go to acute or chronic in April (hopefully acute 1st) I've worked very hard most of my adult life...vactions are not nec a priority, but I gotta say I am burning out!!! I can imagine after acute I will NEED that time off! I say that as I don't want to come off as a slacker, I'm not...but I seriously think I want that time to decompress, we have a small family vacation planned around the 4th July for a week, but I was really looking forward to having that 6 weeks...then back to the grind of ns.
I was told that with the nursing shortage (I'm in an area where it is high demand) to not worry, I'd be able to get a job offer fairly easily in December with no experience. Now I'm wondering if that's necessarily true.
I "know" having tech experience would be benefit, but I'm asking is it a necessity? Are there other career changers out there that just got their first nursing job straight out of school, no CNA no tech work...or if that's just plain stupid

...I told you I was burnt out!
Lemme know what your or others you've talked to experiences are/were!
TIA
