Hey everybody, I have an interview for a corporation wide school nurse position coming up here in a few days. I was hoping some of you seasoned school nurses could give me some advice as to what kind of questions to expect during the interview and how to prepare myself, etc. Any help would be appreciated! I really want this job and am soooo nervous about the interview!

Hi, I am a seasoned nurse in general but this is my first year as a school nurse. They basically wanted to know if I knew how to handle seizures, asthma, fractures? Yes, I said... Could I be fair with all kids? Yes,... Have you dealt with children? Yes,.... If a parent doesn't want 911 called but you think they need it, what do you do? Call 911. Can you be here on time? Yes,...There's a lot of student traffic, typing. Can you endure.... Yes,...What makes you want to work here vs the hospital? I love children and blah blah.. Can you deal with different parents calling and such ..? Yes, I have dealt with that in many ways such as blah blah. Well thank you very much. We will make our decision shortly and get back with you. Is there anything that you would like to say or add. Yes, I really enjoy working with children and helping them stay well....Thank you, I would love to work for your school. Shake hands and smile. Then wait. Act like the part. Buy a few small things in preparation. Like I brought a flower for my desk and a nameplate for my desk. Good Luck!

I would ask myself how I would handle delegating responsibility to health aides since it sounds like you would be responsible for multiple schools. Remember that you are also interviewing them .
