Hello. I'm not a school nurse, but I was a teacher for 12 years, and I can imagine that it must be kind of lonely, not to mention that I bet you've been asked to do everything that the school couldn't find anyone else to do, like be on lunch duty, etc. As I teacher I felt pretty isolated and alone. Being in a room of 30 kids all day isn't the same thing as working with other adults.

It can be lonely - especially when you first make that jump from being on a busy nursing unit with a team of nurses to bounce ideas off of all day to being the lone soldier. I work in a district with 7 other nurses - so we're there for each other so I am lucky. But a lot of school districts may only have one nurse so it's important that we network out to one another and allow ourselves be be each other's lifeline.

Actually no. I work in a system with a nurse leader and 11 other nurses (9 schools altogether). Our network is strong and we are always emailing and telephoning each other. I also have developed many strong relationships with staff in my building. It took a bit of reaching out on my part at first five years ago but now I feel connected.
