Question A New School

Please help. A new school is opening in my area, and they currently have their pre-nursing ie anatomy, english etc Board approved, and they expect to know the status of their license to teach an LVN program by Summer. They are also Board approved to offer RN refresher courses.
I need to know some thoughts on attending a school that is just beginning. I have a real interest because they offer such a great schedule (I'm a single mom) but am concerned.....Thanks in advance for any response.

This is the forum for nurses who work in k - 12 schools, so I hope you have posted this message on other forums too.

I think you are smart to be concerned and I would tell them!!

Are they accreditied? If not, when can they anticipate being accredited?

Who do they have teaching and developing the curriculum? What is their background? Have they developed a program before?

What problems do they forsee?

Be alert

Be alert to accreditation issues. Contact NLN website. Ask questions from your state nursing board office. That sounds great a local school is opening up. Good luck on your nursing path!
