Need job advice

Hello all:

I am considering a position with the school district as a school nurse for the elementary division. It is part-time, 20 hours per week and includes medical, dental and vision bnefits, pays 26$/hr. I think I would really like it, and the nurses I interviewed with were very, very, nice and supportive. I am also an NP student part-time. I am very interested in this position, but wonder if I will b e 'typecast" as a lightweight when I go to find an FNP position in a couple years. My fellow NP students all work at the hospital doing very technical procedures. I hate hospital nursing (hospitals=stress and politics to me) however, and love public health. I hope to work in either community health care or a derm clinic when I graduate with my FNP.

Your insight is highly valued, thanks in advance for any input, ideas.

Re: Need job advice

Wow! Sounds like a great job, with great hours, and experience that is very compatible with your future public health aspirations.

Take it and enjoy it!
