Does anyone have written guidelines for teachers to know what to send to the nurses office? I found one set and they were good but I am wondering if any other schools have them. If so, will you share? Thanks.

We have no guidelines and when we tried to give them, the teachers said they are not health professionals and will not make decisions-if a child asks to go to the nurse, they go. (it got sorta ugly) I do think Gerri Harvey's site, (google School Nurse Perspectives) might have some ideas.

I have Gerri Harvey's Ten Thins Teachers Can Do to Create Healthy Classrooms. It is very good. Can you share the other source you found for teacher guidelines before sending a student to the nurse?

I want to check that source out. The guidelines are on a school website. I just googled the topic. It is Adell Junior High School in Midland, Texas. If you google the school and put nurse's office or nurse in the search box, it will take you there. Post what you think or let me know if you have trouble getting them.

Yes, it's ABELL instead of Adell. Click on "Eagle News."

Thanks for the correction. They are good. I did also get Gerri's creating a healthy classroom. I really like it. I would use that as an introduction to the other guidelines at the beginning of the school year.
