I did school nursing for a long time and recently left. Coming from a hospital environment to an educational environment might be difficult. School staff and even some parents don't understand the nurse's role in the school setting and will treat you badly, like you are working in a school because you can't get a job anywhere else and are stupid. For a long time I tried to think it was worth it for the good schedule (no weekends/holidays, school vaca off), but after 10 years of listening to teachers belittle me, I left. MUCH happier where I am now. Also, one point to consider is if you have to cover more than one school, which is commonplace. Deligation to non-licensed personnel is dangerous and scary. School administrators don't care about the scope of nursing practice or state nurse practice acts. Be careful whAT YOU WISH FOR
