So, I want to be a school nurse.
I have to graduate first.

My question is, how hard is it going to be to get a school nurse position straight out of college? Am I gonna have to do time at a hospital first? (LOL, not "do time" like jail... although.....)

Or, will they hire me and just pay me an insultingly low starting salary??

Any answers are deliciously appreciated.

It depends what state you live in. Some sates require that you are school nurse certified, which requires an extra 12-18 months or so. Once you become an RN, you could try being a substitute school nurse which will help get your foot in the door. I'm not sure if hospital experience is absolutely necessary. Try to contact your state's school nurse association. They should be able to give you more specific info. Good luck!

It really depends on your luck. Substitute nursing is a good in, though.
