Well the support staff from the Moline School District is back to work. Our strike lasted 5 days. It was difficult and stressful. One of my children didn't handle the change from Mom the School Nurse to Momma Norma Rae very well. I put in some very long days!

We received the salary compensation we wanted, but not the insurance. We felt we had to negotiate so we are fairly happy with our new contract. For the first time we are given an annual salary increase according to the education you have. It is definitely a perk!

We are a fairly new union (7 years) so we are learning more and more as we go along. Thanks for the good wishes. Also good luck to those of you out there negotiating new contracts soon!

So glad you are back to work. I live near Peoria and we woke up to 2 inches of snow - glad you are off the line. I remember the strikes in the 70's when the farm implement factories went belly-up and how sad people were.

We had snow this morning too, but about 3-4 inches. Just our luck! I am ready for our spring break.

I remember the strikes of the late 70's - early 80's. My Dad worked for International Harvester and he was on strike for 6 months. It was pretty lean for awhile. I was working at the Target on 23rd Avenue in Moline at the time.

I was glad we weren't picketing in the snow! I am also happy to be back at school where we belong.

We are looking forward to the next school board elections!
