I am just wondering, do I need a BSN to become a school nurse? I know it would be good for me to work in a hospital first but what is your advice. I am a CNA in a ICU unit in Maine. It is stressful but I kind of like it. I am also finishing my pre-reqs for nursing school. Thanks for any advice.

In my town in Massachusetts you not only have to have a BSN but also need to have/or be working toward a MSN.

Check with your state or ask another school nurse you know in your state. In Pennsylvania, you need a BSN plus a school nurse certification which takes about another semester, then after you're hired, you need another 24 credits.

You should be able to contact someone on this site to answer your question.
Good Luck.
