Rinsing Of Dialysis Machines Everyday?!?

Our unit has 3 extra machines that we don't use, a company technician told us that we need to rinse these machines everyday including the portable RO to prevent formation of algae/bacteria...what's your opinion?

Our spares are disinfected/rinsed every 48 hours, so they are ready if needed....

Re: Rinsing Of Dialysis Machines Everyday?!?

Portable ROs need rinsing daily for ten minutes or more. Endotoxin formation is subtile and of course won't show up on the routine cultures 'cause they aren't alive. Machines need at least a rinse and heat clean daily. Chemical weekly.

Talking Re: Rinsing Of Dialysis Machines Everyday?!?

Hi from sunny England. We heat disinfect our Machines in the morning before the first patients are put on , between every new patient and after the last patient. This means our Machines are heat disinfected 4 times a day. Each disinfect takes 40 minutes. On sundays because we are closed they only get done once. As for the machines that are kept spare, we disinfect them once a day. We found that with doing this, we stopped having a build up of Endotoxins. Cathy
