Okay,
It's only been 3 days since I started dialysis training. I've worked in a high-risk L&D dept for over 20 years. I really like this!!!
The unit was VERY busy today, but, I'm used to extreme busy units (the L&D dept I worked for did over 4500 deliveries/year).

Is it too soon for me to really like dialysis? I know I need to give it more time, but THIS IS JUST GREAT!!!..........(so far)

LOL !!! Good for YOU !!!

You'll either love it or hate it. If you like busy, even REALLY busy, you'll do fine.

Dialysis IS very exciting especailly in the beginning mos. when you are learning all this neat new stuff. So much to learn. Give yourself PLENTY of time..don't allow anyone to try to rush you through teh learning process!
And remember, it takes about a YEAR before you will begin to feel comfortable with your knowlege and your abilities. About 6 mos. before you are really familiar and proficient at setting up machines, accessing sites, etc.

I like busy, but I don't like chaotic. And during turnover, things can get pretty chaotic.

If you have good teamwork going on with your colleagues and your techs, and you all assist one another whenever possible, you'll really enjoy it. That helps soooooooo much. Teamwork is everything in dialysis.

Enjoy the learning... keep us posted.. and I want to know how you're still liking it in 6 mos., and then in a year again !
