New to Dialysis Nursing

Hello,

I have been a L&D/OB RN for over 20 yrs and just recently accepted a position for an Acute Dialysis RN.
I am completely new to dialysis, but I am very excited and anxious to start my new field.

Re: New to Dialysis Nursing

Hi and welcome...I am an APN in a couple of dialysis units. It is very specialized but once you get through orientation, I'm sure it will make more sense. Good luck.

WELCOME Acts238RN !!!

I did dialysis for nearly ten years... loved dialysis, but hated the "company" aspect of it. Too much focus on profit, too little on the patients.

Acutes are a different thing altogether, though.

Lots of info to be had here, so come back and make yourself at home!

Welcome! You will soon know if you love (or hate) dialysis, few seem to be indifferent.

IMO acutes is the best area of dialysis (I say that after 5 years chronics and 1 year acutes). One of our best nurses started in our inpatient unit - as a new grad, with no dialysis experience. You have the advantage of your acute care background.

Best of luck,

DeLana
