I Need Advice And Help

hello,
my daughter (22 monthes old) was Dx with UTI. her ped doc order renal ultra and VCUG. i want to ask you guys, pls tell me how this procedure looks like, is it save to do it on her, how long it takes, and do you recommend sedation? pls help. i am so helpless and i just cannot look how much she suffers especially now till her meds starts work. also she has a high fever for last 3 days above 103.5 F doc gave her some meds but i have to observe her till thursday if it is gone she will be ok if not, i do not want to think about it even. thank you all at advance.

one more should i go with her also to urologist ped or primery ped is enough?

This is best discussed with your doctor. Specialists are always better for specific problems if you can find a good one. The procedure you mentioned is low risk and she should do fine

Discuss with your doctor. I will say we do this procedure frequently on pediatric patients and have no problems. She will get an IV placed temporarily.

thank all for reply, she needs to have it done. i spoke to her doc and there is no chice to not to do it, prevention and make sure she is ok.

Renal us and vcug are scheduled same day. us should be easy. vcug can be hard for a 2 year old. they will have catheter to urethra. If you opt for sedation. make sure your doctor orders it with sedation. It woldnt hurt to bring a copy of this with you,. We do them were I'm at, but not that many.
We do oral sedation based on weight with versed.
