Re: Dci

where are you located? i work for dci in alabama. the company is ok, they definitely have things that could change but that is everywhere. the main thing is disagree with is the pay... what are you currently making now. they started an rn out the other day at $17.50... not too good in my opinion..

I am located near pittsburgh, pa the pay they offered is $23.00/hr. I did tour the facility very nice compared to where I am working now. What is your nurse ratio? Do you work 4 ten hr days?

I am in my 9th year with DCI and think that they are a great company. I think the pay scale is regional and in my area it is exceptional and very competitive.
The health benefit has come a long way and is now the best I know of around. The retirement is awesome and like none I have ever seen. The company is not for profit and really puts back into the community for research. The founder, Dr Johnson, is all about the patient and their needs it is really nice to see and feel the care and dedication to patient care rather than how we can cut corners all the time in order to pad a pocket.
I would highly suggest DCI as an employer.
Good Luck

Wow.. that is the best news I've heard re chronic outpt. facilities in a long while!

I do miss dialysis a lot, but not enough to go back to the horrors of the mega millions for profit companies!

Re: Dci

I did take the position and working 4 10's , I work half chronic unit , half acutes. I agree it is an owesome company and the staffing is unreal comparted to where I worked before (a for profit co.) at DCI they provide enough staff to ensure a safe treatment for all patients.
I am very glad that I took the position.

awwwwwwwww... I am SO happy for you ! Really makes me want to do dialysis again when I hear that.

But I also love HH.. gee.... 3 days HH and 2 days dialysis... THAT would work !!!

Our old unit was replaced by a brand new one with all the new "stuff"... it is awesome. What a difference! And of course they got to move in shortly after I started HH.

It is right next door to my HH agency as well! So I get to see all my pals there still.

Sadly, it's still the same company, though, with all its downfalls. So no matter how new the unit, how nice the new "stuff".. it's still not worth it if the company/management suks.

It's really too bad.

Re: Dci

I have worked for DCI for 8 yrs. The salary may be slightly lower than others, but it also depends on how much experience someone has. The retirement benefits are the best. Get into the plan ASAP. I am happy working for the company. Working for non profit is nice too. We are frugal, but don't have to account for every band-aid we use. Our staffing is good too. When I read some of the posts about other units it is unbelievable what is expected of the staff.
